Strawberry chocolate cake.

CAKE.

There is one thing that I love, along the same lines as fashion.. It's food! I found a brilliant recipe in a 'Hello Kitty' book for a soft glazed cake, the recipe incorporated two of my favourite things... Chocolate and strawberries!

This cake is decadent to say the least. It just oozes delight from the inside out.

The gooey glaze is a chocolate, honey and cream mixture which is divine! I may or may not have dipped my finger in to taste.. had to make sure it was safe for everyone else to try!

I get just a little bit excited when it comes to decorating. For this creation, I decided to add sugar pearls and yellow glitter for a bit of glamour (of course!).

The cake doesn't look quite like the picture from the recipe book.. However, it is artistic licence as to how you decide to decorate your cake. Not going to lie.. I am of the opinion that my creation looks better than the original! It is a touch more messier and less professional - but this works fine. The cake was sliced and served not long after.

Served with a dash of cream and a glass wine.. All this hard work can make a girl thirsty!

Recipe:

Ingredients:

-150g Plain Flour
- 300g Dark Chocolate
- 150g Sugar
- 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
- 4 Eggs
- 45g Butter
- 1 tsp Honey
- 3 tbsp Cream
- Strawberries
- Salt

Method:

Preheat the oven to 180C. Separate the egg whites from the yolks. Whisk the yolks with the sugar in a bowl until you have a thick and creamy mixture.

In another bowl, add a pinch of salt to the egg whites and whisk them until they are stiff.

Mix 2 tbsp of whisked egg whites with the creamy mixture, and then slowly add the rest of the egg whites. Slowly add 150g of melted and lukewarm chocolate, the flour and the baking powder. Pour the mixture in a cake tin that has been lined with grease proof paper. Put it in the oven for 30-35minutes. When removed from the oven, leave it to cool.

Melt the rest of the dark chocolate with butter. Remove it from heat and then add the honey and cream. Stir and let it cool. Spread the glaze on the cake an decorate it with strawberries dipped in the glaze.

Sit back, serve and enjoy!

London Fashion Week Predictions.

Tuesday 17 February 2015
London fashion week is nearly upon us and there is a distinct buzz in the air. I unfortunately won't be attending, but thanks to social media, I shall be trawling the interwebs for major fashion inspo.

Here's some of the trend predictions that I expect to see AND can't wait to feast my eyes on!

Seventies vibing:

We all know there will be suede and platforms a plenty. A-line skirts, platform boots, denim, suede bags and jackets. Need I say more?!

Flares:

Denim, dungarees or possibly even a sequinned pair or two!

Camel/Tailoring:

One colour head to toe with varying textures makes a stunning outfit.

Will you be going to Fashion week? If so, have you planned your outfits yet?

Valentines gift ideas, just for you.

Monday 9 February 2015
Hey - I'll happily put it out there that i'm a single pringle and as much as I would like to convince myself that Ralph (my chihuahua) will be getting me a valentines gift, I doubt that will happen, harrumph. This is a holiday which is about love and I do believe that to welcome love into your life, you first need to love yourself (cheesy but true!). Now, I am working on that, it's a struggle as i'm sure you're aware. Valentines is a day renowned for showing your friends, family, partners and pets that you love them, but there's nothing wrong with treating yourself to. Here's a selection of what's currently on my wish list and what I believe are perfect little gifts to oneself.

1. Tom Ford - Velvet Orchid Eau De Parfum - £72.00

I have been on the hunt for a new perfume for quite some time and having read a few reviews, I think this may be my next scent of choice. This perfume is said to have beautiful floral notes but with a seductive, 'sexy' finish. Sounds like my kind of scent!

2. Happy Jackson - 'Love me, love my dangerously expensive shopping habit' shopper bag - £4

Not going to lie, I bloody love a good slogan, especially one that seems to be written about me.. Ha!

3. UGG - Coquette leopard slippers in charcoal - £100

I've never really been a fan of the classic style UGG boots, they're not really me. I do rather like the other style of shoes that they do. However, the slippers - my word! Little pairs of heaven, i'm telling you. I unfortunately do not own a pair myself (yet!), but I have tried on some.. it was a truly beautiful experience.

4. Flamingo Candles - Love Potion Jar Candles - £12

I have a thing for candles.. What blogger doesn't?!

5. 'Deliciously Ella' Cookbook by Ella Woodward £7.99

As is standard procedure, the time for a health kick rears its cheeky head every now and again. Lasts for a stupidly short amount of time usually, however, a few months ago I discovered 'Deliciously Ella'. So many amazing recipes and I regularly head over to her website for cooking/health inspiration. Cookbooks are one of my favourite types of book, so it would make sense to add this to the growing collection.

6. Hourglass - Ambient Lighting Palette - £40.00

This palette seriously looks like crushed pearls. Amazing! I have heard so many good things about the Hourglass range, and this palette in particular. It would be a bit of a splurge, but hey! If you're treating yourself, then you can't put a limit on the price.. Fact :D

7. Benefit - 'How to look the best at everything' £25.50

Since discovering Benefit's 'Rockateur' blush, my Benefit collection has grown quite extensively. I simply adore the small sets that they put together. The sets are great because you get the opportunity to sample different smaller versions of their products and see how you get on.

8. NARS - Semi matte lipstick in Funny Face - £20

Lipstick doesn't get much prettier than this. Enough said!

Summer, come at me!

Saturday 7 February 2015

Dress - Primark.  Scarf - eBay. Tights - Primark.  Shoes - Shellys Rangers.

So, whose bored of this brutally cold weather? You are as well, thought so!
This weather is totally pants, however, I have a theory that i'm going to share with you.. I believe that if we start to dress 'summery' then the sun will have no choice but to float into the sky.
Now, I know this theory is practically impossible, but hey, indulge me!
The summer child in me has always had a love for colour and there are a couple of combos that make me weak at the knees.. Black and white, chocolate and tan, yellow and green!

I feel as if this floaty floral number was simply made to be paired with yellow accesories. I heart yellow. This outfit makes a lovely daytime look, but for an evening, I would simply swap the shoes for heels and the scarf for a mustard clutch.

What's your fave colour combinations?

Tweeds.

Tuesday 3 February 2015

Coat: Topshop.  Swing Dress: Missguided.  Horse necklace: ASOS.  Mules: New Look.

I've been attempting to de-clutter my wardrobe and in doing so, came across this little beaut of a coat. It's a Topshop number that I bought from eBay a while ago and at a steal of a price (you'll get to know that I have a keen eye for bargains!).

I decided to shoot this outfit in the garden when I saw the sun peeking out.. Forgetting momentarily that it was winter, hello pale, ever-so slightly blue legs. Didn't take me long to realise that perhaps a pair of trusty black tights and boots, might have to be the order of the day!

That coat.

Sunday 1 February 2015

Can we just ignore the gap on my top.. Clearly trying to be sassy.

Ralphy likes to get involved.

Coat: H&M.  Shirt: H&M.  Jeans: New Look.  Necklace: River Island.  Sandals: Florence & Fred. (Tesco).

I'm sure many would have seen this coat on the blogging scene previously. An absolute treat from H&M which sold out (probably thanks to the price of £24.99.. *happy face*). Oversized, simple and classic.. What more could you want from a coat? As soon as I clocked this beaut I thought 'You're coming home with me!'.

The lining is a gorgeous light finish which adds a delightful detail.

Coats have recently become 'my thing' and due to the colour, this number can be paired with pretty much anything. And so that is what I do!
