I'm baccccccccck!

Before I jump into this post, I really should explain where i've been hiding out these past months. And the reason i've been away is nothing truly exciting, I decided to take a few weeks off whilst I finished my course and then a few weeks turned into a few months. 

I'm sure anyone else who has taken a break from blogging can relate. As the break gets longer and longer, it can be quite hard to just slide back to posting. I cannot tell you the amount of times that i've thought about writing a post, but never actually got round to it!

My Instagram has still been going strong ('cause i'm slightly obsessed with it), but it has made me miss this space of the internet. And I am so happy to be back with regular content!

So, if you remember, a few months ago I uploaded my 'Face Faves' post. Make up is something I love, maybe not as much as fashion, but it's a pretty close second. I love trying new items and finding new products to obsess over. One such product is the Sexy Mother Pucker lipsticks. They are so amazing, I already own two!

 In my extended break away from blogging, I have binge watched countless of youtube tutorials and a couple of products have came up time and time again:

Laura Mercier - Loose setting powder in Translucent - 

Such a gorgeous and versatile product. Perfect for baking and sculpting out a flawless contour. Or as i've used here, a light dusting all over the face to set your foundation. I am definitely converted!

L'oreal True Match Foundation - 

Never have I seen so many different foundation colours.. Ever! I was quite impressed when I went to pick this up, it was almost overwhelming to have so many options. With such a vast array of different colours, there's something for everyone and you will find your 'true match'. This foundation gives that your skin, but better look.

Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil -

I'm already a die hard Benefit Cosmetics fan, I live for their brow products. For years I have sworn by Brow Zings and Gimme Brow, so any other brow product they bring out.. Give it to me!

I have managed to horde a huge stock pile of new goodies, which I have been testing out, so stayed tuned for more looks..

It's good to be back!

Pretty in pink.

Pink has never really been my colour, at all. 

My outfit colour palette usually consists of black, white, grey, navy, khaki, burgundy and then maybe a little bit of camel or mustard to change it up a bit. However, recently I cannot stop myself gravitating towards all things pink. My wardrobe is now peppered with a variety of blush pink items, from shoes to bags, to tops to skirts and now this delightful satin tuxedo style jacket.

I saw it online and simply had to have it. 

It's a lovely lightweight longline jacket, which can also be worn as a dress or how i've styled it as a light summer jacket. I can't wait to wear it for after work drinks or it would be perfect for a wedding.

Unfortunately this jacket has now sold out online, but you can still get it in orange and sky blue.

I've said it before and i'll say it again.. Shoes are my weakness.

It's my birthday in a couple of weeks and me being me, I feel I ought to treat my self to a new pair. Of course I don't need a new pair, I just want a new pair, which is seems perfectly reasonable to me.

With the weather getting suitably warmer, I can't help but admire all the sandals. I tend to lean towards similar styles, such as chunky straps, low heels or mules. Timeless pieces that will take me through summer and onto the next.. Though we all know, I will still be buying more shoes.

A girl can never have to many.. Right?

Snaps from a wander around Nottingham

A couple of weeks ago, my brother and I went on a little jaunt over to Nottingham. Only 20 minutes on the train from Leicester and you are there!

It was predicted to rain early on in the day, however, from the moment we stepped off the platform, blue clear skies for miles on end.

We didn't have a plan in mind, other than to wander around 'The Park' to look at the glorious houses and maybe a glass (or bottle) of wine or two..

We stumbled across Nottingham Contemporary, which is free to enter and houses various exhibitions and installations. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

I am hoping to put together a city guide at some point, as I will definitely be going back and there's a whole host of amazing bars, eateries and places of interest that make this a wonderful city to explore. I truly can't wait to go back!

Guacamole.

Probably one of the easiest things to make and something that you become obsessed with after you've made it the first time.

As with most recipes, you can adapt as you like.. Take out items that you're not too fond of, experiment and add items that you think would compliment the other ingredients.

Guacamole, once made goes perfectly with all sorts. Used on nachos (heaven in a bowl!), as a sauce, or even as a delightful breakfast treat.

And here's how you make it:

Ingredients:

1 x Avocado, 
1x quarter of red onion (chopped), 
a few sprigs of fresh coriander,
half a red chilli (chopped)
1x crushed clove of garlic,
juice of half a lemon,
paprika to sprinkle,
salt salt
and
pepper.

Method:

De-stone the avocado and scoop out the contents into a bowl. Using a fork, blend the avocado down into a paste like consistency.

Combine the chopped onion, coriander, lemon juice, chilli, and garlic with the avocado.

Flavour with salt and pepper to your taste.

Serve.

Eyeshadow palette: Urban Decay Vice 3

I'm not very experimental when it comes to make-up, i've found what works for me and I stick to it. For the most part, I am quite happy with that.

Then I scroll through instagram..

I'm constantly in awe of what people are able to achieve with make-up and I want to do it too. I've bought so many different tools and palettes over the years, that just in the cupboard gathering dust.

Well, that was until recently.

I've started experimenting, constantly pausing youtube tutorials and trying to move out of my neutral colour palette a lot more.

I may not be very good at it, but i'm enjoying learning and trying something new.
